How to Play & Create
Find the words
Choose a puzzle from the shelf. Drag between a word’s endpoints, or tap its first letter and then its last letter. On a keyboard, use arrow keys to move and Space or Enter to choose both ends. Escape cancels. Words run in straight lines and may share letters. Either endpoint works.
Choose your challenge
Easy: forward across or down, usually in a 10–12 square grid. Hard: all eight directions, including backward and diagonal, usually 16–20 squares. Custom lists may need larger grids. Automatic fit grows to a maximum of 20×20; a chosen size is fixed. Difficulty changes placement, not your words.
Take your time
Pause hides the puzzle and stops the clock. Hints point out the beginning of a remaining word and are counted. Reveal Solution shows every answer and records the puzzle as revealed rather than completed. Turning off the timer hides it; elapsed time still records. Progress is saved on this device when browser storage is available.
Create and share
Enter a title, category, difficulty, and 3–30 different words. Spaces, hyphens, and apostrophes are removed for placement; other non-A–Z characters must be corrected. Generate and check a preview. Save Draft keeps it private; Publish Puzzle puts it in the community collection. Keep your private editing code and puzzle ID. A public play link never contains that code.
Edit safely
Open Edit My Puzzle with your ID and code. Word, difficulty, or grid-size changes require a new preview. Saving a draft leaves the published version intact until you publish again. Unpublish removes public access. Delete removes the puzzle permanently. If two devices edit at once, reopen the latest version before replacing it; your current text stays visible after a conflict.
Zoom on a phone
Select Zoom board for larger letters. Check Pan zoomed board to swipe around the enlarged grid, then uncheck Pan to select words. Select Fit board to return to the full grid.
Print a page
Print Puzzle creates a clean worksheet with name and date lines. Print Answer Key outlines each answer and lists its starting and ending coordinates. Use portrait paper and your browser’s print preview.
Privacy & access
No accounts or email addresses are needed. Your editing code is the key to your puzzle: share the play link, never the code. If you forget editing access here, your puzzle remains saved on the website. You can reopen it using your ownership note.
