One Letter at a Time

Choose two different words of the same length, from 3 to 6 letters. We’ll check that a route exists.
Turn the starting word into the target by changing exactly one letter at a time. Keep every other letter in its position.
COLD → CORD → CARD → WARD → WARM
That’s five words and four moves. Every step must be in the local dictionary. You may take any valid route, but you can’t repeat a word.
Hints reveal the next step from your current word, avoiding words you already used. Undo if your route gets stuck. The minimum is measured from the original start.
Daily challenge: selected from the collection using your device’s local date and game version. Devices with the same date and version receive the same puzzle.
The filtered American-English dictionary contains words of 3–6 letters. Proper names, abbreviations and punctuation are excluded. Some valid English words may fall outside this collection.
There is no time limit. Turn on the optional timer in Settings. Your progress stays on this browser.
