Hex is a connection game for two players. Each turn, place one stone in any empty hexagon. Your stones stay where you place them.

  1. Blue connects top to bottom. Orange connects left to right. Follow the colored rails around the board.
  2. Connect stones through shared sides. Each cell has up to six neighbors.
  3. The first continuous chain joining both of your goal edges wins. There are no draws.

Opening swap: when enabled, the second player can take Blue and its first stone instead of placing Orange. The first player takes Orange and makes the next move. The stone stays in place.

A small tip: build more than one possible route. A single long chain can be easier to block.

Keyboard: Tab into the board. Use arrow keys to move between cells (up/down follow the slanted columns), Home/End for row ends, and Enter or Space to place. Tab leaves the board. Use the buttons below the board to zoom, then scroll or swipe to pan.

Undo: against the computer, returns to before your last action, including the computer’s reply. With a friend, reverses one action. Swapping counts as an action.
