Small rules. Lovely possibilities.

  1. Each island’s number is its required number of bridges. Two parallel bridges count as two.
  2. Connect visible neighbors horizontally or vertically. Never diagonally, through an island, or across another bridge.
  3. Each pair allows at most two bridges.
  4. Every island must belong to one connected network. Matching counts alone is not enough.

Making connections

Choose one island, then a neighbor. Repeat the connection to cycle: no bridge → one → two → none. You can also drag from one island to another. Overfilled islands are marked with ! so you can revise them.

Keyboard

Tab enters the board. Arrow keys move to the nearest island in that direction. Enter or Space selects an endpoint; choose a second endpoint to cycle its bridges. Escape cancels selection. Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes; Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z redoes. Use Tab to reach every toolbar.

View & timing

Zoom and Fit board change the view. Pan board lets you drag the viewport without placing bridges; scrolling also works. Pause covers the board and stops the timer. Switching away pauses automatically.

Checks & hints

Check progress tests current bridges as minimum commitments: a single bridge may still become double. It reports rule violations, contradictions, solvability, or completion. A blank connection means undecided. Hints use clue-based deductions and, on difficult positions, proof by contradiction. Revealing the answer is a separate action. Checks, hints, and reveals mark an attempt as assisted.

Difficulty

Beginner: small boards solved by island capacity. Easy: longer count chains or crossing exclusions. Medium: connectivity cuts and preventing closed groups. Hard: additional contradiction reasoning. Size alone does not set difficulty.

Daily puzzles

Daily selection uses your local date and catalog version, independent of progress. The fixed 120-puzzle rotation repeats every 120 days. Daily attempts are saved by date, separately from library attempts. Archive dates range from 2000 through 2099.
