YOUR WORDS, A NEW DISCOVERY
Create a puzzle
Keep your exact text. Build clue answers from its letters, with initials spelling a hidden author or title. This is a construction tool: it suggests words but never pretends an invalid puzzle is ready.
A GENTLE START
Two ways into one thought
- Solve a clue. Each answer has numbered letter squares.
- Enter its answer. Every letter appears in its matching quotation square.
- Read what emerges. Spaces and punctuation already show the shape of the thought.
- Work in either direction. A word you infer in the quotation fills parts of the clue answers.
- Read the answer initials. They spell a hidden author, source, collection title, or puzzle subtitle.
A worked example
If “Expectation of something good” has answer HOPE and its numbered squares are 7, 12, 3, 18, typing H places H in quotation square 7. Typing into quotation square 12 fills the O in that answer. The H also appears as the answer’s first letter in the hidden identification.
Keys and movement
Type to enter letters and advance. Backspace clears the current square, or steps back when it is blank. Delete clears without moving. Left/Right move through the current grid. Up/Down move between clues at a similar answer position; in the quotation they move to the nearest square in the row above/below. Home/End go to the ends of the current answer or quotation. F2 (or Alt+X) switches to the matching square. Tab follows normal page order. Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y undo and redo while entering letters.
Assistance without pressure
Checks mark wrong entered letters with ×; blanks are never errors. Revealed letters have ↗ and a distinct border. Editing a revealed letter removes its revealed status. Undo restores letters and reveal markings; assistance counts record actions and do not decrease on undo. Reveal counts only increase when a reveal actually changes a letter. Restart clears the puzzle’s letters, history, time, and counts after confirmation.
Your writing stays yours
The sample collection was written for this game and is labeled as such. John’s supplied sayings retain their exact wording. No poems have been invented and credited to John. The creator preserves quotation punctuation and line breaks, while letter mapping uses A–Z (accents are reduced to their base letters).
Saving and backup
Progress saves after every change, including before puzzle switching. Keep the same browser and site address to resume. Private browsing, clearing site data, or a full storage area can prevent saving; a notice explains when progress is only in memory. Export your custom puzzles as JSON for backup. No account, server, or connection is needed after the files are loaded.
